Savings Accounts

Whether you're saving for retirement, a child's education, or to have something set aside "just in case," Reliant FCU has a variety of savings accounts that will help you reach your goals.

  • Share Savings
  • Certificates
  • IRA

Share Savings

A basic account with great rates to build on

When you join Reliant FCU, you make an initial deposit of $5—your “share” in the credit union—and open a Share Savings account.

And that $5 is all you need to begin earning dividends on your Reliant FCU Share Savings account. No matter where your finances stand today, you’ll see your savings start to grow, and you’ll begin a healthy lifetime habit of saving.

Reliant’s Share Savings account pays dividends monthly, and limits transactions to no more than six (6) preauthorized, automatic, or telephone transfers per month.

Benefits Include:

  • Voting rights within the credit union—you have an ownership stake in your financial institution!
  • Competitive dividends earned on your entire balance over $5
  • Great for use as overdraft protection for your checking account You can even open a second Share Savings account for a special savings goal, such as a down payment for your next vehicle, a family emergency fund, or a well deserved vacation.

Certificate Accounts

Grow your savings safely and securely

When you’re serious about saving, and want a higher rate of return without the risk of other investments, consider the benefits of a Reliant FCU Certificate Account.

You can invest any amount of $500 or more, and choose the term that works best for your savings goals: 6, 12, 18, 24, or 30 months. Your rate of return is guaranteed, and the longer the term, the better the dividends you’ll earn. There is a penalty for early withdrawal.

Other Benefits Include:

  • Automatic renewal at maturity (10-day grace period)
  • Secured rate
  • 18- and 24-month certificates offer you a one-time rate bump-up. So you can invest with confidence even in volatile rate environments.

And best of all, you’ll be secure knowing that the funds in your low-risk Reliant FCU Certificates are insured up to $250,000 by the NCUA. Plus, your investments are staying local, helping to strengthen your member-owned credit union and other credit union members here in the community.

Children's Certificates

Give your children the gift of smart savings skills

Teaching kids the importance of saving can be difficult sometimes. But when they get rewarded with higher rates than their parents, it can be easier to get them to start!

Reliant offers Children’s Certificates with the same terms as the regular Certificate Accounts, but kids can get started with a balance as low as $100. Plus, they’ll earn .50% higher rate of return.

What a great way to teach the benefit of long-term saving for a bike, a week at summer camp, or even that very first car.

Individual Retirement Account

Save more for retirement (or college) with tax-advantaged IRAs from Reliant FCU

We all dream of retirement—having the time to do what we want, when we want. Days spent fishing, an RV trip cross-country, time with grandkids, or just being able to kick back and relax.

A successful retirement doesn’t happen automatically—it takes planning and a little persistence to ensure that you’ll be ready when the time comes. And it requires some special tools to help you get there more easily.

IRA Accounts help you build wealth using certain tax benefits, without risking it in the stock market or other investments. IRAs at Reliant FCU pay excellent rates of return, which are set for 12-month terms.

Reliant IRAs also have these features:

  • $500 minimum for a certificate IRA
  • No minimum for a share IRA
  • Contributions may be tax deductible
  • Member can contribute any time (subject to tax restrictions)
  • Automatic renewal at maturity

Take a look at the three IRA options available at Reliant—there’s even one for college saving. Choose one, or a combination, to meet your retirement goals.
